Fork Lift Driving & Operating (Novice Course)

Introduction

This is a 2-day course designed for participants to understand the engineering principles and safe operational practice of fork lift trucks.

As of January, 2015 all students undertaking any form of training must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number. This can be obtained at www.usi.gov.au. If you have any problems obtaining a USI please contact the USI office on 13 38 73.

To avoid incorrect data entry, once a USI number has been created, an automated reply from the USI Registry either via email or text message containing the USI number must be brought in and shown to our office staff during enrolment.

Fork Lift Driving & Operating (Novice Course)

Aims and Objectives

To enable the participants to acquire the skills and knowledge required to operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently and to pass both theoretical and practical tests.

Course Contents:

  • Safety.
  • Introduction to fork truck controls and instruments.
  • Starting, moving, steering and stopping the fork truck.
  • Hydraulic Systems.
  • Pre - Start Inspection.
  • Refuelling Procedures.
  • Weight Assessment.
  • Handling unladen and laden pallets.
  • Stacking / Destacking.

Testing

On completion of their training students shall then sit for their test.

The test is broken down into 4 components.

  1. Theory Test
  2. Calculation Test
  3. Verbal Test
  4. Practical Test

Qualification

On completion of the test, a Worksafe Notice of Assessment for a Licence to Perform High Risk Work along with Forklift Statement of Attainment will be issued to successful students.
